Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Teacher, Retreat Leader, Integrative Oncology Specialist
Dr Caroline Hoffman OAM, PhD, RN, BSW has specialised in integrated healthcare for over 25 years both in the NHS and voluntary sector. She is currently teaching Mindfulness and Self Compassion and running retreats. She is also a supervisor of mindfulness teachers via the Mindfulness Network. She published novel research about Mindful Self-Compassion and its impact on people with breast cancer in 2022. She also practices ultraEMDR (bilateral brain stimulation) for trauma and acupuncture. She was Clinical and Research Director for Breast Cancer Haven for nearly 20 years. Caroline's long-standing expertise in psychosocial support, nursing, integrative medicine and research enabled her to lead the teams of health care professionals, therapists and researchers across all seven centres. She was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her contribution to breast cancer support services in 2014. Her doctoral research showed significant benefits from the mindfulness-based stress reduction programme (MBSR) in people affected by breast cancer and was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in 2012. She is on the executive committee for the British Society of Integrative Oncology, she has published over 50 academic papers and book chapters. Caroline continues to teach 8-week MBSR and Mindful Self-Compassion courses, lead retreats, supervise other teachers and provide advice and support to people affected by cancer. Caroline is on the Advisory Board of the international journal Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice.
