Introducing Integrative Oncology UK 2022

On Behalf of the Executive Committee of the British Society for Integrative Oncology and our loyal members, we are delighted to host the IOUK22 on the 14th of May.

Our inaugural event, the IOUK21, took place during a challenging time for the healthcare profession and revealed the huge demand for integration in oncology care. The engagement of all healthcare disciplines, from oncologists to surgeons, nutritionists and physiotherapists, nurses and patients was overwhelming last year, and their feedback has been utilised to design the agenda for IOUK22.

This year, we have expanded the multidisciplinary nature of IOUK, and we have included more national, as well as international speakers, to complement the theme of the conference.

The theme for IOUK22 is ‘Integrative Oncology – Emerging Directions and Bringing Evidence into Practice’ which reflects the increasing volume of worldwide clinical evidence for integrative oncology practice and the need to share knowledge with our clinicians on the new approaches to oncological care. We have gone a step further on the standard ‘hot topics’ of nutrition and exercise, to include expert talks in fasting, nutritional supplementation and movement activities, including cancer exercise and yoga therapy, during cancer treatment. In addition, we listened to our IOUK21 participant requests, and we have included topics such as mistletoe and medical cannabis and their role in cancer care, as well as genomics and precision medicine.

Our esteemed experts’ talks will be supplemented with workshops, an expert panel and a keynote speech, polls and videos, all delivered through an innovative platform which will allow live interactions amongst participants, chat groups, specialist interest groups, sponsor displays and useful educational information.

As Chair of the IOUK22, I promise that your experience of the event will be exceptional and you will come away from the event with so much more knowledge, new connections, tools to use in your own practice and of course, continuous professional development points.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in May the 14th at our Integrative Oncology UK 2022 conference event, to share learnings and move Integrative Oncology forward in the UK.
